Over his adult lifetime, Leonardo Da Vinci's writings and diagrams filled in excess of 13,000 folios which, over the years, found their way into three codices. The Codex Atlanticus is overwhelmingly held to be the greatest of the three, and on folio 149 (a) we can find the inspiration for a pipe shape and name that is as singular as the inventor and invention: the Balestra Gigante, a crossbow of Herculean proportions. By opposing the rounded back of the bowl with a soft triangle to the front, the prod's bent wings appear from the top view, and a wonderful experience in the hand is born. The rich cherry of the rim matches the smooth top of the shank, and emblazoned on the latter is a silver relief of fearsome crescent itself. Your new Balestra comes in a special box, accompanied by a tamper.
